Body: Michael Jackson will be paid a staggering £5 million for attending a prince's birthday party. The 'Thriller' singer has been promised the mega-bucks deal just to turn up at Brunei's Prince Azim's 25th birthday bash - and does not even have to sing.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Absolutely no expense has been spared for his party - Michael Jackson is his all-time idol and he said he'd pay whatever it took to get him over.
"Even though Michael won't be performing, the very fact that he'll be in this stately home mingling with all of the prince's pals makes it worth every penny to Azim."
Michael, 48, flew to the UK from Los Angeles yesterday (22.05.07) ahead of the lavish two-day party this weekend.
Soul legend Dionne Warwick is being paid £250,000 to sing at the extravagant soiree, and the prince's advisors are reportedly trying to persuade Barbara Streisand to also attend.
Azim, whose father the Sultan of Brunei is one of the world's richest men, has invited a host of celebrities to join in the celebrations, including Pamela Anderson, Jerry Hall and Kate Moss.
The 200 VIP guests will leave the casino and ball-themed bash with designer goodie bags, bursting with iPods, diamond jewellery and luxury cosmetics.
A source said: "Azim wants his bash to be more glamorous than the Oscars."

Michael Jackson had to duck out of a lavish party held by his pal the Prince of Brunei this weekend - despite apparently being paid £5 million to turn up.
The eccentric popstar withdrew from Prince Azim’s 25th birthday at an English country estate after claiming food poisoning caused by the buffet had caused him to vomit.
The Mirror quotes him as telling a fellow guest, “I am feeling ill and so weak. I had to go to the bathroom to vomit. I think it must be the food. I feel terrible.
"I want to go now! Please call the prince, I want to say goodbye."
