New York, NY (January 25, 2011) – William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publisher today announced an agreement to publish the memoir MY FRIEND MICHAEL: Growing Up with the King of Pop by producer and lifelong Jackson friend, Frank Cascio.
The memoir, scheduled for Fall 2011, will chronicle Cascio’s relationship with Michael Jackson over 25 years and reveal the inside, behind-the-scenes story of the Michael that Cascio knew as the performer’s friend and closest confidante, offering the most candid, moving, and detailed portrait of the pop icon. The book will also include photos never before seen by the public.
Cascio intends to dedicate a portion of his proceeds from the book to charities benefiting children around the world. He plans to start with an organization that has been building housing, schools and orphanages in Haiti since the devastating earthquake that left many children without families. Details of his plans will be announced in the coming months.
Acquiring editor Matt Harper says “For more than 25 years, Frank was fortunate enough to be one of the few people that Michael Jackson chose to have around him. In MY FRIEND MICHAEL, Cascio tells the full story of his life with Michael, offering an uplifting and definitive account of the superstar’s life from someone who lived it alongside him during the most controversial times of Michael’s life. What emerges is an emotional new side of the “King of Pop,”––a human one that was at times unremarkably average but also terribly scarred by his life in the spotlight both on and off the stage. Packed with never-before-seen photos, amazingly insightful revelations, personal anecdotes, and private moments that are essential for every Michael Jackson fan, this book is a treasury of Michael Jackson lore, one that both celebrates his life and presents him as the special person that he really was.
World Rights to the book were acquired by William Morrow Senior Editor, Matt Harper from Matthew Guma of the Guma Agency.

Frank Cascio, an entrepreneur and producer who splits his time between New York, Los Angeles, and Germany, knew Michael Jackson for more than 25 years, including serving as his personal manager for nearly a decade from the 90's into the '00's . During that time, Cascio developed and co-produced “The Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Celebration, Madison Square Garden,” was co-producer and creative director of “The Michael Jackson Interview: Footage You Were Never Meant to See,” executive producer and creative director in collaboration with Brett Ratner on “Michael Jackson Private Home Movies,” which aired on Fox in 2003.
Cascio is a co-founder and partner in the private equity platform, IMPERIAL™. Mislim, da bo tole zelo kvalitetna knjiga, glede na to, da ga je dečko poznal več, kot 25 let. Michael je družini Cascio resnično zaupal in z njimi preživel veliko časa. Z njimi je šel čez najlepše čase in tudi tiste slabše.

Knjigo izdaš z namenom, da bi bla uspešna, za ljudi in za $.
Mogoče je res preživel z njim kar nekaj časa, sam komu je Michael zaupal...to bo pa vedno uganka

Super, da bo to naredil in bomo izvedli še marsikaj lepega o Michaelu. Ja, kot je zaslediti je tej družini neizmerno zaupal in preživel z njo lepe trenutke.

Glede te knjige imam mešane občutke,nasplošno glede vsega,kjer se pojavi Cascio.Bom še malo počakala preden izrazim dokončno mnenje...

Se strinjam, da je potrebno počakati in se takrat odločiti. Res pa je tudi, da se bodo stalno pojavljali dvomi o verodostojnosti vseh knjig in nadaljnih projektov v zvezi z Michaelom, ker ga na žalost ni več med nami, da bi demantiral takšne in drugačne komentarje. Saj vidimo, da objavi kakšen heker kakšno bedarijo in že nekateri več ne verjamejo, kaj je zapel MJ, kot pri zadnjem albumu. Osebno mislim, da je vse komade zapel Michael, res pa je, da so bili po nepotrebnem sproženi dvomi. Vsak ima pač izbiro in pravico, da se odloči, kaj bo verjel in kaj ne in ne sme biti zamer, če kdo drugače misli.
Vedeti pa moramo, da je bil v zelo dobrih odnosih z omenjeno družino z njo preživel lepe trenutke in noro bi bilo, da se ne bi to napisalo spominov in seznanilo fane. Čim več dobrih knjig o njemu, da svet ve kakšna veličina je bil.Verjamem tudi, da ni vse v denarju in vsak ne misli samo na to, da bi zaslužil, enostavno čuti potrebo po izpovedi spominov. Da pa se z tem zasluži pa je čisto normalno, kot je čisto normalno, da je vse kar je v zvezi z Michaelom spremeni v denar. Če pa bodo nekaj denarja namenili dobrodelnim namenom pa še toliko bolje saj bodo sledili Michaelova dejanjem

Ja in kar je bolj zanimivo je to, da za tiste, ki je Michael na videoposnetkih izjavil, da so 'good friends' (npr. Brett Ratner in Chris Tucker) pa 'close friends' (Elizabeth Taylor)…ne izdajajo teh knjig, oz. niti ne delijo zgodb z nami, ker očitno še kar spoštujejo MJjevo zasebnost.

Če nekdo napiše dobre stvari o MJ - ju ni slabo, prej dobro. Vsi pa tudi niso navdušeni za pisanje knjig ali pa jih še bodo.

To je pravzaprav slabo, da njegovi res tabolši prtjatli nimajo močne volje svetu pokazati pravega Michaela, genija, človeka z božjo dušo. Sej ni treba cele zasebnosti zdej razkrinkat.
Če Elizabeth Taylor lahko po twitterju piše tako lepe o Michaelu potem lahko napiše knjigo ''Michael Jackson, my best friend'' in dvigne prah, pokaže Michaela v pravi luči, sej navsezadnje je Michael želel, da ga ljudje poznajo po njegovem, delu, talentu ne pa škandlih in knjigica bi bla lepa poteza, sploh od Liz, halo.

I will shock the world. Michael was like my brother and father to me. My story will tell the world and introduce the real Michael, my beloved friend.
I have been blessed to be apart of his life and I want to make sure the world underst...ands what a special and the true humanitarian he truly was.
If anyone has any idea and thought that I am writing thing book to profit, You are all wrong. Currently, we have plans to build children's Schools and orphanages starting in Haiti in Michael's Memory.
I know from my heart that this is what he would want me to do. I feel that this is the right time to share my story with the world.
I am here to tell you that I am here to preserve Michael Jackson Legacy with Honor and integrity.
Lepo se sliši, upam, da bo tudi kaj konkretnga povedo o komadih, ki jih je njegov bratec Eddie posnel v kleti z/s...
